Look what I found at the Library!

So I made it to the library and snapped a few pictures. Please excuse the quality, my sister has the nice camera, so I had to use my cell phone. And I don't have any makeup on so don't look too closely. And my sister couldn't get a picture with the book in St. Louis, but my cat likes Ballad so much that she begged me to get a picture of her and the book. More than my dog will. She is an absolutely adorable miniature Husky (looks like a regular husky, but the size of a puppy). I like her better than most mini dogs because she still has some meat on her and doesn't look like she will blow away. Which is a bad thing when she slips out the door... Lets just say she likes adventure. But she is an oddly paranoid dog. When I called her for the picture, she got suspicious and hid. Oh, well. I like would rather have her odd than well behaved!

But now my Grand Total is 74 + First Deadline Bonus+Over 20 in a pic Bonus+ a cat (I know the cat doesn't count, but she is cute!)

That last post looks horrible

But not like Dr. Horrible. Sorry I just had to mention it just so I say how much I love that...movie? Blog? I'm watching it on DVD for the first time. My only complaint is that it is too short. Here's hoping for a sequel!

But the real reason for this post is to sum up my pictures/entries:

This Post: 40 entries
1st: 19 (including me--I won't count me again.)
2nd: 21 (Over 20 Bonus!)

Previous Post: 13 entries
1st: 7
2nd: 2 (Anna--white jacket--was in previous picture and is my only repeat)
3rd: 2
4th: 1
5th: 1
Des Moines Post: 3
1st: 1
2nd: 2 (my parents!)

Entered before first deadline: 14
1st: 1 (my sister)
2nd: 13

GRAND TOTAL: 70 ENTRIES!!!!! (plus bonus for first deadline and for having more than 20 in a picture!)

I had so much fun with this contest. I really want to win. Can you tell?

But I had Ballad reserved at the desk for me, so it would be there when I went to take the picture. Now it is safe and sound, home with me. The pictures with the Campus Safety Officers were the last ones, right after I bought it!

Most Likely the Last Ballad Entries

This is my last set of posts. Unless I make it to the library before it closes. Mornings are hard for me, but Ballad is worth it! It has been a lot of fun taking these pictures. I think the people I dragged with me are surprised at how much fun they had too!
I would like to say that the picture with the police was the result of a scuffle between me trying to take a picture in the store and they were trying to throw me out. But I wouldn't stand for it! So we all fought back and it got bloody. Campus Safety was called and we were drug out. But they smiled nice for the camera.
Like I said, I would like to say that. But really, they were standing right next to the outside of the book store and I asked if they would join our group. Interesting maybe fact: I've heard that Campus Safety used to carry guns on campus, but when patrolling the Administration Building, they got spooked and shot the life sized statue of Abraham Lincoln on the second floor. I don't know if it is true, but there is a bullet sized hole on his hip.

On a completely different note: The fabulous Maggie Stiefvater has posted her process of starting a story. I found it fantastically useful. I write. But I don't finish. I'm trying to finish though. I feel I can't tell people I write, because I never finish anything. And I don't like telling people anything about my stories. I wonder if it is the same with other writers, but I don't like telling people what I'm writing about or show any one. I don't know why. I just feel the characters are mine and I don't want to share! Yes, I know I sound like a three year old hoarding her imaginary friends. And that is the other thing, I feel crazy telling people that my characters won't let me sleep because they keep talking.

Ballad Sightings in Des Moines

This weekend my family and I went to see Wicked. This is the second time we have seen it because it is absolutely fantabulous! We saw it in St. Louis the first time and it was snowing so bad we were 20 min late getting there and missed the beginning. So this time, our dad came with us and we got to see the beginning! And, weirdly enough, it was snowing again. But one reason I was excited to go to Des Moines is that I could go to different book stores to get pictures of people with Ballad! I only got to go to one and I really wanted to wander around asking people to be in a picture with me, but we didn't have time, so I only got one picture with a random stranger. I never thought I would ever be brave enough to ask strangers to be in pictures, let alone let other people see me in a picture...that shows you how much I want to win!

PS: The picture on the right is of me and my parents, the one on the left is of me and a random girl.

Ballad Contest 2

So there are going to be a few posts on this contest, but I really, really want to win! And it's not like I have any readers to bore yet. So Maggie, welcome to my sad little blog and thanks for doing this awesome contest! This picture is of me and my sister on the campus bookstore.

Ballad Contest!

Have you heard of Ballad? No? Well go look it up immediately! I'll wait. So now you know that it is an amazing faerie book right? Good. Well the amazing author Maggie Stiefvater (Steve+otter) and the Merry Sisters of Fate are hosting a contest to win some amazing prizes. To enter you need to find the book "in the wild" a.k.a. a bookstore and take a picture of you holding it. That's one entry. For each person you have in the picture it's an extra entry. And I really want to win. Can you tell? By the by, I'm the one with pink hair in the middle. Another by the by. This is my Secondary English Methods class. We're all book nerds so they were willing to help! I even convinced the king of the dead to pose for the pictures but for some reason his antlers fell off and he has a weird patch on his cloak. But he's the king of the dead so I didn't question him on it!
